Koorepikke in the Rucphen Nature Garden on Sunday 19 July 2026.
On Sunday afternoon, 19 July, the annual ‘Koorepikke’ will take place for the 37th time on the rye field in the Heemtuin in Rucphen. It starts at 13:00.
The rye stalks are then mown in the traditional way with a scythe, a short hand sickle, and tied into sheaves, and anyone who wants to can lend a hand. Farmer's daughter Rietje Vergouwen will provide the hard workers with sandwiches with streaky bacon.
This way, the Nature Garden keeps alive the memory of how the fields were worked until the 1960s. This makes it an enjoyable experience for children too.
The Koorepikke is musically accompanied in a cheerful way by the Koor KBOZ from Zegge, led by Els Vos.
The Heemtuin is open that afternoon from 13:00 to 17:00.
Currently, the grain is ripe and the fields in the Heemtuin are coloured with blooming poppies, cornflowers, chamomile and corn cockle. .
It is certainly worth visiting the Heemtuin in the coming weeks.
