In the heart of Sprundel stands the St. John the Baptist Church. The tower is the oldest part and probably dates from the late Middle Ages. In the early 20th century, a new church was built against that tower in Neo-Gothic style. Sprundel thus gained a church that connects old and new. The church once played an important role as a pilgrimage site: people came there because of a crucifix believed to perform miracles. Today, the church has a dual function. One part is still dedicated to church services in the Sint Janskapel, while another part has been converted into a community centre. This way, the church continues to be a place where people gather.
